Luxor is an Egyptian city on the east and west banks of the Nile River, in Luxor Governorate, on the fertile strip along the Nile Valley. Its population is approximately 422,000 as of 2023. Luxor is the administrative hub of Egypt’s Luxor Governorate, which includes the smaller river towns of Esna and Armant as well as the archaeological interior, Thebes and the Valley of the Kings.
